Washington, DC
My first time in DC, we spent a long weekend with friends exploring!
Day 1: Baltimore + into DC
We flew into BWI airport, because we wanted to spend the day exploring Baltimore!
Fells Point: A super cool, eclectic area. We grabbed lunch at ChopTank where we tried the blue crab and their orange crush. We also popped into a few pubs in the area. Definitely worth checking out.
All-Purpose Pizzeria: After Uber-ing to DC (about a 60 minute ride, cost us $90 during rush hour), we grabbed dinner here, cute spot on the water and the pizza was delicious.
Most of the restaurants already add a 20% tip for you, we noticed. Make sure to check for that on your bill!
Day 2: Touristy Things
We were staying in Navy Yard, absolutely love this area! Very walkable and accessible to the metro. We spent Friday walking around a few different areas.
Maman: Maman was a cute coffee shop we grabbed breakfast at in Navy Yard.
White House Tour: You have to apply through your congress person a few months before heading to DC, and we got approved!
Lincoln Memorial: He is HUGE!
We also walked around and looked at some other monuments, they are all so beautiful.
El Techno: Fun dinner spot and rooftop in the Shaw neighborhood.
Whitlows: Cool bar in the Shaw neighborhood, this was a highlight of the trip! They have a drink wheel you can spin that chooses your drink for you, I think we spun it 100x.
Day 3: Museums
Saturday was a rainy day, so it was the perfect day to stay indoor at the museums. I think everybody had the same idea, because they were very crowded!
American History Museum: Loved the First Lady exhibit here!
Natural History Museum: I’m an animal lover, so this one was fun for me. There was mammals, mummies, gems, and more. I especially enjoyed the oceans exhibit.
Sunday morning we had an early flight back to Tampa. There was SO much to do I feel like we didn’t even scratch the surface! Can’t wait to go back for another round soon.
